Burj Khalifa (formerly known as the Burj Dubai), is the tallest building ever constructed, and it is now the world's tallest tower, rising 828 meters.

Construction started in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on September 21st, 2004, and formally opened on January 4, 2010, the total cost amounted to U.S. $1.5 billion.

The tower was opened in January 4, 2010 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai. Sheikh Mohammed announced the opening of the tower as the "Burj Khalifa", meaning Khalifa tower, after His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates.largest real estate companies in the world.

The total area of the tower is 526.760 m2, contains 49 levels for offices, and 1044 residential apartments and a luxury hotel "Armani hotel" which is expected to open on March 2010, in addition to many shops and restaurants.
